I just started watching Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno series on the Sundance Channel<\/a> with my mom last night. Never vulgar, always adorable and incredibly informative – this is a brief series that you don’t want to miss.<\/p>\n

If you haven’t heard of it, Green Porno<\/a> is a collection of approximately 2-minute-long films in which actress Isabella Rossellini<\/a> describes different species’ mating habits using clever costumes and props.<\/p>\n

Season one started last year, in which Rossellini showed us how insects and other creepy crawlies like bees, spiders, house flys and the praying mantis reproduce.<\/p>\n

Green Porno’s second season recently came out, and focuses on sea creatures – featuring whales, barnacles, starfish and more.<\/p>\n

It’s an innovative idea, really, because many people never think about how these creatures are able to make more of themselves. When was the last time you wondered about how a limpet reproduced?<\/p>\n

The costumes, sets and props are wonderful. Very creative with a child-like and homemade feeling\u00c2\u00a0(a dissolving barnacle becomes sperm using balloons with streamers tied to them). Rossellini herself is what truly makes the short films stand out – she fully commits to being the horny male bee or the dominant female angler fish, providing appropriate enthusiasm and sound effects along the way.<\/p>\n

Something else to chuckle at – the credits for each film are longer than the films themselves!<\/p>\n

The whole series can be be viewed online at SundanceChannel.com<\/a>. I believe there are more films to come for the second season, as I’ve seen lobsters and squid in previews for the series, but their videos aren’t available online yet.<\/div>\n

So do yourself a favor and anytime you have two minutes with nothing else to do\u00c2\u00a0(but be careful, that two minutes can turn into 20 easily – they’re very addicting!), check out an episode of Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno – and learn something!<\/p>\n
